The Flyer is a 31’ Eastern Sport fisher. The hull of the boat is A Maine lobster boat design like the ones used on the show, Wicked Tuna, which has some great features. She starts off with a sharp entry to a deep V, with a flared bow for soft landings off the top of waves.
As the bow stem comes aft, it turns into a 2‘3“ keel that helps the boat track really well and keeps her from drifting sideways off the bait balls. The boat is wide for her length at 11‘3“ and the square chine adds a lot of stability to the boat, especially when stopped while fighting fish.
The topside is pure customized sport fisher goodness! The trunked foredeck gives you an unbelievable amount of head space while in the V-birthed cabin where there is a spotless, private bathroom, a well-appointed, organized tackle rigging station, and two forward bunks.
As you come out to the command bridge, there are 2 1000# pound fish holds, on the starboard and port that act as lounges/seats which are fully shaded, padded, dry, and out of the weather.
There is also a steering station with full electronics so you can see where we are and what’s below us at all times.
Below is a new 380-hp Cummins QSB turbo diesel that gives her a top cruising speed of 20 knots.
The step down to the aft cockpit has 2 live wells built in starboard and port.
The cockpit has a beautiful through-bolted fighting chair with rocket launcher-style rod holders to have everything accessible right at hand!
The transom boasts a tuna door that opens to pull in any giant fish you may encounter!
Above all that is the fly ridge where we get a great view to find birds feeding on bait that predators are pushing to the surface or free-floating debris that creates habitats to fish like Mahi Mahi and Yellowfin tunas with our stabilized, high-powered binoculars.
There’s also a full range of electronics on the bridge as well!
The Flyer is built exactly how we want it and she is perfect for our waters here in Hawaii.
